Without sophisticated translation, an effective cross-cultural communication would be impossible. Consequently, achieving effective and empathic translation is indispensable during communication between different nations, especially those whose official languages are different.
The Chinese-English translation of Folding Beijing is an up-to-date and eligible sample for studying the strategies of cross-cultural communication. This dissertation sums up both general and personal skills of translating Chinese literature to English from a perspective of cross-cultural communication studies. However, the wide and sophisticated scope of cross-cultural communication and translation studies pose great challenges to the author and the study of Chinese-English version of Folding Beijing is rare now in China, so this dissertation is only a bold try and a beacon for the afterward study of other masters. In addition, any comments and constructive suggestions are appreciated.
